In Israel, the Tesla Model 3 has been in production for a little less than two years, but in the world it is already a fairly old model that will celebrate its 7th birthday next year. Since it started rolling off the production line in 2017, the Tesla Model 3 has received regular software updates that have improved the range and energy management and the operation of the safety systems, and also made Technical changes and improvements to batteries.

Tesla is also aware of this, and according to a report by the Reuters news agency, they are currently working on a significant facelift for the popular model in a project under the code name "Highland".
The facelift is aimed first at the Chinese market, where Tesla Model 3 sales have fallen by 9% since the beginning of the year when it has to face a host of fresh and impressive competitors, led by BYD HAN (which should land in Israel soon), which forced Tesla to take an unusual step to lower prices recently.
According to the report, the facelift will be concentrated on two levels.
One plane will be the familiar one where the Model 3 will get an updated design and new features in the cabin similar to last year's facelifted Model S, although it is not certain that it will adopt the innovative airplane-inspired steering wheel.
In addition, there is also expected to be another upgrade to the battery assembly.
The second area where the facelift will focus is lowering the car's production costs to maintain competitive pricing in the face of growing competition.
The cost reduction is expected to be achieved by improving the production processes, using new presses to stamp the body parts and also reducing the components used by the car.
On the other hand, in light of the repeated complaints about the level of assembly of the Tesla 3 and the numerous calls for repair, it will be interesting to see if Tesla will be able to make a necessary upgrade in the quality of the car.
The upgraded Model 3 should appear to be manufactured in China during the third quarter of 2023, when at a later stage production of the latest model should also begin at Tesla factories in the USA for the American market.
