The Chinese military announced today that it has removed a US cruiser armed with guided missiles that illegally entered the waters near the Spratly Islands in the South China Sea.
"The actions of the US military seriously violated China's sovereignty and security," Tian Junli, a spokesman for the Southern Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, said on WeChat.
The spokesman pointed out that the entry of the American ship into the region shows that the United States is a “security risk maker” in the South China Sea, stressing that the Chinese army forces will remain on high alert.
And the Chinese Ministry of Defense confirms on many occasions Beijing's strong opposition to the repeated sending of warships and military aircraft to the South China Sea by the United States.
