The 44-year-old's mother and sisters tried to enforce this document, a handwritten letter sent to his doctor in 2020, stating his medical wishes in case he was no longer able to speak.

Last May, he was hospitalized in the intensive care unit of Valenciennes hospital after being run over by a truck he was repairing, and plunged into a deep coma.

The doctors judged, after a period of observation, that his condition had no chance of improving.
