Two traditions have been scrupulously respected by the Prime Ministers of Emmanuel Macron since 2017. The first, official, has consisted for more than forty years of planting a tree in the gardens of Matignon after six months of presence on rue de Varenne.
The second, unofficial, involves hosting Nicolas Sarkozy for lunch.
