Al-Hasakah farmers began marketing the production of areas planted with winter vegetables, amounting to 4,334 hectares, distributed in various areas of agricultural stability.
The head of the plant production department in the directorate, Eng. Jalal Bilal, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that the governorate’s markets began to receive farmers’ production, from the various types of winter vegetables that were previously cultivated, to secure the people’s need for these foodstuffs and provide them throughout the winter and spring seasons, leading to the start of cultivation. Summer vegetables, explaining that the marketed quantity is about two thousand tons to date.
He pointed out that the governorate produces about 13 varieties of winter vegetables, with the exception of some varieties such as potatoes and tomatoes, which are usually supplied from governorates that are famous for their production to be put on the market.
For his part, the Director of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, Ali Khalif, said that the start of marketing winter vegetables produced in the governorate contributes to the stability of their prices and the provision of material to the people, indicating that the prices of various vegetables and fruits are almost fixed in the current period, with the exception of materials supplied from other governorates, which are witnessing an increase. Resulting from adding transportation fees.
