Tiktukno: summary of the day's events in sports, 29.11 (Sport1)
The Dutch team completed its mission and qualified for the round of 16 this evening (Tuesday) after a 0:2 victory over the host Qatar.
Goals by Cody Gakpo (25) and Frankie De Jong (49) decided the match and sent Louis van Gaal and his players to the next stage from the top of Group A.
The host of the tournament was already eliminated in the group stage and with a balance of zero points and three losses is the worst host in the history of the World Championship.

Holland's captain, Virgil van Dijk, expressed his satisfaction with advancing to the next stage: "I think we gained confidence. We didn't give them too many chances to score. We could have been more creative in front of their goal, but we kept a clean sheet, won 0:2 and went up From the top of the house. We feel that we can play better, and later in the tournament we will have to do that as well. Maybe it will be something that players will feel obliged to play like this, now that we are already in the knockout stage."
At the end, he complimented his players and was happy about another qualification: "I am very pleased with the players. Memphis made the change for us in the lineup. He was involved in all the goals today. You can say whatever you want about him, but he is extremely important to us."
Louis van Gaal recorded a wonderful achievement, becoming the first coach in the World Cup to reach ten games without a loss, not including a penalty shootout, and continued the Orange's promotion streak to the round of 16.

Frankie de Jong added: "It doesn't matter to us who we face in the round of 16. The most important thing is that we get to the next level."

* Cody Gakpo is the second player in the history of the World Cup to score the opening goals in the first three group stage games.
The first was the Italian Alessandro Altobelli who recorded the feat in the 1986 World Cup.
* The PSV striker scored in his three situations to frame the tournament and the first Dutchman to score in the three opening games in the World Cup.
He equaled Johan Cruyff in the number of goals scored by the Orange in the World Cup.
* The Dutch national team is undefeated in its last 18 matches in all competitions.
* The Dutch have not lost in their last 17 World Cup group stage matches.
* In every group stage in which they have ever participated - the Dutch team qualified for the next stage.
* Louis Van Gaal became the first coach in the history of the World Cup to coach ten games without losing a single one - seven wins and three draws in up to 120 minutes.
The only losses he had as coach of the Dutch national team were in penalties.
* Qatar is the worst host ever - three losses and zero points.
