Excessive consumption of sugar increases the risk of overweight, obesity, tooth decay, and then diabetes, which greatly affects the health of men and women.
With regard to the incidence of diabetes in women, the Director of the General Authority of Al-Zahrawi Hospital, Dr. Ali Mohsen, indicated that the infection of women with this disease affects all stages of her life, and causes frequent miscarriages or delays in pregnancy or cases of ovarian insufficiency, and other gynecological diseases.
And Dr. Mohsen said in a statement to SANA that the incidence of diabetes during pregnancy “gestational diabetes” affects the health of the pregnant woman and the fetus, which raises the possibility of a cesarean section or the fetus suffering from cardiac and neurological deformities, which may sometimes lead to sudden fetal death or the birth of a baby with a heavy weight. He suffers from a lack of sugar as a result of his increased insulin, referring to other complications that affect the mother, such as diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Mohsen emphasized that pregnant women with diabetes should be followed up weekly during pregnancy by conducting special analyzes and examining the echocardiogram to ensure that the fetus is free of any abnormalities, explaining that the more the mother's diabetes is correct, the complications are less.
It is noteworthy that with the aim of raising awareness of the dangers of diabetes and the pathological complications that accompany infection with it, the Ministry of Health launched, on the 16th of this month, an awareness campaign entitled (Do not sweeten it with excess), which includes holding community events and educational lectures, and distributing guidance brochures about the harmful effects of white sugar on public health.
