Autumn 2022 will be at least the third warmest since weather records began.

But that doesn't change the cold weeks that are coming.

Munich – The data confirms people's feeling that this year's autumn was very warm - even in times of climate change.

Final evaluations are still pending, but according to the German Weather Service (DWD), autumn 2022 will go down in history as at least the third warmest since weather records began in 1881.

In the latest weather video from

wetternet

on YouTube, meteorologist Dominik Jung looks into the near future - and sees cold, white days coming to Bavaria.

"Heavy snowfalls" in Bavaria: cold air in Bavaria for the weekend

While temperatures of around three degrees (Munich) and five degrees (Nuremberg) will still be on Thursday, December 1st, with a slightly cloudy sky and some sunshine, things will look different at the start of the weekend.

Snow is expected to fall on Friday, December 2nd.

Still cloudy during the day, according to Dominik Jung from

, it will be exciting in the evening.

It's likely to snow in many places in Bavaria next weekend - but looking back, the autumn was very warm, especially when you look at the history.

A cold low then comes in to Bavaria, says Jung, from the south-east.

This brings with it “heavy snowfall” on the night of Saturday, December 3rd.

The meteorologist explains that there could be five to eight centimeters at altitudes of more than 400 meters – but it could also snow at lower altitudes.

The weekend itself will then become drier again, with temperatures in Bavaria leveling off at five to six degrees.

"Real crash" in December?

At the end of the video on the

wetternet

YouTube channel , expert Dominik Jung is still looking into the near future.

The map shows the various weather calculations until December 16th.

And Dominik Jung is amazed: "And then you can see a real crash, the main run goes down to minus 15 degrees, during the day permafrost around minus five to minus ten degrees".

But he also limits: The average of the calculations show more moderate temperatures further up, so around the zero-degree mark the weather is more likely to hold up.

However, deflections to the downside are definitely possible.

Looking back at this year's autumn seems almost ironic.

But it was very warm - this is now also proven by the first evaluations of the data.

With an average of 10.1 degrees, autumn 2022 is currently the third warmest since weather records began in 1881. Autumn 2014 is in second place - also with 10.1 degrees.

A change after the final evaluations have been completed is therefore still possible.

The currently warmest autumn since the end of the 19th century is 2006 – with 10.9 degrees.
