Abdul Karim Shabat, Director of the General Fodder Corporation, revealed that the current season will witness the production of unprecedented quantities of corn crop, in light of government directives to support this crop and facilitate its receipt from farmers, which will reflect positively on livestock breeders of all kinds.

Shabat pointed out in a statement to SANA that production expectations exceed 500,000 tons in safe areas, and production did not exceed 250,000 tons before the crisis, which contributes to stabilizing feed prices and providing them locally for poultry breeders, in addition to production estimates exceeding 1.5 million tons of green fodder that provides Feeding herds of cows, sheep and goats in agricultural areas.

Shabat said: The Foundation was keen to provide all facilities to encourage farmers to hand over the crop to the Foundation, including setting a fair price for farmers at 2 million pounds per ton, in addition to procedural and marketing facilities, including raising the percentage of impurities from 5 to 12 percent, and increasing the percentage of crumb to 10 percent, and foreign materials. to 2 percent, reducing the specific weight to 63 from 69 kilograms, and raising the humidity rate to 14 percent, indicating the existence of financial facilities, as the necessary liquidity was provided to finance the entire delivery process, and the crop values ​​were disbursed to farmers within a period not exceeding 48 hours.

With regard to the economic impact, February stated that the direct repercussions will be on the livestock sector by providing the material locally, which contributes to the stability and reduction of prices and securing a resource for the farmers through the selling prices of the crop, which amount to about 950 billion pounds, especially since the marketing prices are remunerative and cover costs. Production, given that the crop is grown intensively after wheat and harvested before planting barley, pointing to its importance in saving the annual import bill for corn amounting to $200 million, in addition to reducing the import bill for the rest of the fodder species as a result of the availability of large quantities of green corn crop residues that cover an important part of wealth needs. animal.

He said: Among the positive effects that will be left by the large production of corn is to encourage traders and investors to set up corn dryers, especially small farm dryers, in addition to importing and manufacturing machinery for the production of corn slug, which is an internationally approved fodder that includes packaging, fermenting and storing green fodder, which contributes to the creation of many job opportunities. And the provision of local fodder material throughout the year, indicating that the quantities received exceeded 4,000 tons of corn, and the process is still continuing.

For his part, Engineer Ahmed Hamidi, head of the Field Crops Department at the Plant Production Directorate at the Ministry of Agriculture, said in a similar statement that the area cultivated with this year’s corn crop witnessed a significant increase, as the cultivated area exceeded 93,000 hectares, with an implementation rate of about 150 percent of the plan, indicating that the area The largest was for intensive agriculture, which amounted to about 90,000 hectares, distributed mainly in Aleppo, Raqqa, Al-Hasakah, Al-Ghab and Homs.

In the same context, agricultural expert Omar Al-Shalat, the former head of the Damascus Chamber of Agriculture, said: The large production estimates will save millions of dollars in import costs for the material, and will also generate additional income for producers that contribute to the stability of the agricultural process, in addition to its upcoming repercussions on reducing the costs of animal production, pointing to the need for direction Towards the industrial side by extracting oil from corn seeds in economical quantities, which achieves added value for this crop.
