Because of a new job, a car thief has grabbed someone else's car to get to Munich.

The reaction of the Caddy owner was also questionable.

Eching/Landshut

- In the Wild West manner, the injured party, owner of a transport company in Unterschleißheim, tried on July 6 to confront the car thief (33).

He was able to locate the VW Caddy using GPS, after which a company employee ambushed him at the Freising-Ost motorway exit in a Sprinter that he had placed across the road to stop the thief.

But when the man saw the "roadblock," he backed off, hitting a Porsche in the process and driving past the obstacle to his intended destination.

Only later was he caught.

Now the 33-year-old had to answer in court – not just because of this one case.

The list of charges was long: he was accused of particularly aggravated theft in two cases before the district court in Landshut, theft as an accomplice, the release of prisoners and the evasion of punishment.

The thief returned the car himself

His client was supposed to sign an employment contract with a company in Munich that day, explained defense attorney Thomas Fauth about the incident on July 6 of this year.

But he had no vehicle and therefore decided to "borrow" the Caddy, which was parked at a gas station in Eching.

The entrepreneur who owns the vehicle apparently has parking spaces there.

In fact, the defendant had returned the vehicle - after the appointment, which he had not let the accident prevent him from doing.

The defendant, who has been in custody since the incident, claims to have accidentally discovered the key to the vehicle the day before, according to the defense attorney.

The defendant wanted to get beer at the gas station when he discovered the key placed on a front tire of the car.

The man had also stolen a bike that belonged to a police officer's wife

If you follow the other charges, the 33-year-old does not like to walk.

In mid-June he had stolen a bicycle worth 200 euros in Neufahrn that had been locked with a combination lock.

A few days later, also in Neufahrn, he and an acquaintance wanted to steal a bicycle that belonged to the wife of a police officer.

The officer had observed the men, finally spoke to them and identified themselves.

But the defendant pulled the police officer away from his friend, who was riding the bike, and pushed him off in such a way that they both managed to flee.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

He was only caught after the Caddy was stolen – how exactly was not discussed in court.

After the accused had essentially confessed, public prosecutor Matthias Wollert applied for a suspended sentence of eleven months.

Judge Markus Brümmer issued a nine-month probation.
