They were waiting for them at the gate and caught them red-handed even before arriving at the site of the robbery: the Penne carabinieri stopped and arrested three robbers surprising them with a fake checkpoint on the road leading to the Turrivalignani post office which they intended to burgle.
The episode dates back to Saturday: a video made by the Carabinieri shows the arrest of the three criminals, immediately surrounded by an impressive array of military cars.
The three wanted to take advantage of the closure of the Town Hall which is located in the same building that houses the post office, but they were anticipated.
A pistol, plastic ties and radio transmitters were found in the bandits' car.
The Prosecutor of Pescara has ordered further investigations and in the searches undertaken following the arrest, an illegally detained 12-gauge shotgun and ammunition of the same caliber were found, ten grams of hashish and equipment to reproduce car plates, used to mislead the controls.
