Borrow a work of art from the Kremlin-Bicêtre, it's possible thanks to the art library

Original works can now be borrowed by residents, but also schools or associations: paintings, sculptures

"Dignity" by David Decamps.

“Bar atmosphere in Paris” by Khaled Guemroud.

“Marianne” by Gilles Saffar.

So many works of art that can now be borrowed from the Kremlin-Bicêtre.

The city has indeed launched its own art library, a loan system which aims to make works of art available to individuals: residents, but also schools, associations or businesses.

“This project stems from a desire to reach out to the public, to democratize art, which is sometimes a closed discipline,” explains Anissa Azzoug (PS), deputy mayor in charge of culture.

About forty works of art are now available through a subscription: 15 euros per family to be able to borrow a work every two months, i.e. a maximum of six works in the year (10 euros for affecting social minima and students).

For associations or companies, the annual subscription is 100 euros for the loan of a work for a period of two months, ie a maximum of six works in the year.

And for the Kremlin-Bicêtre schools, the loan is free.

80% of artists are Kremlinois

A service made possible thanks to the "budget line devoted to the acquisition of works of art", recalls Anissa Azzoug, which can usually be found in municipal buildings.

“We want the inhabitants to benefit from it at home,” insists the elected official.

Other towns with art libraries have been contacted for this project, such as Montreuil (Seine-Saint-Denis).

“We have taken what is good in each system,” says Anissa Azzoug.

In the Val-de-Marne, another art library has existed for thirty years: that of Saint-Maur, now managed by the Paris Est Marne & Bois territory.

Like her, the Kremlin-Bicêtre art library promises a varied catalog: a "panorama of contemporary creation", with works that are all original, and 80% made by Kremlin artists in order "to enhance the city's resources", explains the cultural assistant.

Its content, exhibited once a year, is regularly enriched.

"We have just acquired about fifteen works of art during the Open Days of Artists' Studios," says Nadia Azzoug.
