Dr. Miriam Adelson and Charles Bronfman had a conversation with the executive committee of the Taglit Foundation in New York • Adelson: "Investing in Taglit is an investment in the future of all of us, as a collective, in our future as a community"

The chairman of the "Tagalit" project, Charles Bronfman, and Dr. Miriam Adelson (disclosure: publisher Israel Hayom"), held a conversation yesterday (Tuesday) with the executive committee of the Taglit Foundation, which is responsible for raising donations for the organization in the US , and noted the importance of expanding the financial support of the Jewish community to the organization.

Dr. Adelson and Bronfman emphasized that the need is not only to increase support from current donors, but also to educate and inspire new support, among the entire Jewish people to allow this important program to continue its activity and maximize the number of young Jews who will take part in the educational tour in Israel.

The meeting took place after months of talks in which the need to increase fundraising for "Tagalit" arose, following inflation and the increase in flight and accommodation prices.

These price increases are expected to result in a cut of up to a third of the number of participants who will come to Israel in the coming year.

Dr. Adelson and Bronfman are calling on Jewish organizations in the US and around the world, the State of Israel and private individuals to become what they call "investor-partners" in the organization, which offers young Jews from the Diaspora a 10-day tour of Israel during which they will experience the wonders of the contemporary state in the ancient Jewish homeland.

At the executive committee meeting, held via video call, Dr. Adelson emphasized that she and her family will continue to be the organization's largest donors, reflecting their pride and uncompromising commitment to discovery.

Dr. Miriam Adelson and her late husband, the late Sheldon Adelson, invested through the Adelson Family Foundation a donation of approximately 500 million dollars for the discovery that was given over the past 15 years, but now it addresses the entire Jewish community, and encourages others to join and support the organization.

"We are creating a space For others to commit, re-commit or expand their commitment," she said in a conversation with the organization's board, "Investing in the discovery is an investment in the future of all of us, as a collective, in our future as a community.

The family's investment in the project 'more than paid off', Taglith succeeded beyond all expectations - both in quality and quantity, and became the largest educational project in Jewish history, changing the lives of hundreds of thousands of young people."

Speaking from Palm Beach, Bronfman said: "In their generosity, the Adelson family made the largest donation in the history of the Jewish people.

Miri continues to believe in the project and continues to support the discovery in a magnificent way.

Miri and I see Taglit as a gift from one generation of Jews, to the next generation." He also noted that he believes all Jews "should share in the responsibility for this gift" by contributing to Taglit as well.

Bronfman cited findings of a study published last week by the PEW Institute, according to

Taglit graduates are 58% more likely than their peers who did not participate in Taglit to "feel that they have a lot in common" with Israelis, 54% more likely to "feel a strong sense of belonging" to the Jewish people, and are also 160% more likely to marry a Jewish spouse Compared to Jews of the same age who did not participate in the program, the findings prove once again that the discovery of Israel is a "strategic asset of historic proportions

," he explained.

"To feel a sense of belonging".

Adelson and Bronfman read to the board of directors what they called a "call to action" as a joint statement: "At this crossroads in the historic path of discovery, reaching the milestone of the millionth participant in the project deserves the support of the global Jewish community. We all have a stake. Every Jew who cares about our people, From our story, from our young generation and from our dear country, the discovery should be seen as a crucial task. Every Jewish foundation and organization should celebrate the privilege of being involved in the discovery."

Sages tell us, all Israel is responsible for each other: all Jews are responsible for each other.

A success story like a discovery can continue, chapter after glorious chapter, as long as we all rally around it and share this great vision for future generations.

Everyone should contribute according to their ability.

Everyone has a role." In 2022, Taglit brought to Israel a record of 35,000 young Jews from around the world, a number that is expected to decrease to 23,500 in 2023.
