For five days in Casamicciola they have continued to dig in the mud, to free houses and streets but above all to look for the last four missing.

To the pain for the deaths - eight victims recovered so far - is added the anguish for what could happen

over the weekend, when the rain returns

The weather announces important rainfall between Saturday and Sunday,

but the uncertainty of the multi-day forecasts does not yet allow us to define the level of any criticality.

"From Casamicciola (Ischia) a photo that conveys hope, a symbol of the great work of the many rescuers who have been working for days to help the population. The Government and all of Italy are grateful to you".

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni writes it on Facebook by posting a photo of a rescuer with a child in her arms

And while the controversy over the alleged underestimated alarms does not subside, there is news for the choice of the extraordinary commissioner to entrust after the flood in Casamicciola.

After the Region's no to Simonetta Calcaterra, current prefectural commissioner of the Municipality, the governor Vincenzo De Luca proposes the name of Giovanni Legnini to Palazzo Chigi, already at work for years in Ischia as commissioner for reconstruction after the 2017 earthquake.

A candidacy that has a good chance, it seems, of being accepted.

Work continued today also to define the new perimeter of the red zone, the one that could be at risk in the event of a new weather alert.

It will certainly have wider borders than the current one, we are talking about a thousand houses scattered along the slopes of Epomeo, once famous for its vineyards and chestnut cultivation.

The occupants of the houses in the red zone - this is foreseen by the civil protection plan being drafted - in the event of an alert they will have to leave, even if temporarily.

For this reason, some hotels are already being prepared in all the municipalities of the island.

And blankets and other subsidies are already being brought to these facilities to be used in an emergency.

Checks are also underway in the nearby municipality of Forio d'

Ischia.

At the moment an eviction order has been issued for a dozen houses because escape routes are inadequate in case of danger.

There are 314 students from high schools on the island of Ischia who, armed with tools of all kinds, are helping rescuers to free the streets of Casamicciola from the mud.

The schools, according to an initial provision, will be closed until Saturday.

The boys have thus decided to take to the streets to help the population of Casamicciola and they will also do so in the next few days.

Most of them are concentrated in piazza Bagni and via del Celario.

The boys, now known as the 'mud angels of Ischia' are also helping some private individuals to free up cellars and rooms on the ground floor.
