Today, the Chinese government issued an action plan to promote vaccination of the elderly with anti-coronavirus vaccines, with the aim of protecting this vulnerable group from the disease.
Xinhua reported that the action plan issued by the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism for Coronavirus of the Chinese State Council aims to take advantage of the preventive effect of vaccines to reduce the risk of serious or critical infection and death among infected elderly people.
The action plan urged efforts to accelerate the increase in the vaccination rate among people aged 80 years and over and to continue to raise that percentage among people between the ages of 60 and 79 years.
On the other hand, the Beijing authorities asked hospitals to avoid closing important departments such as emergency departments, operating rooms and delivery rooms, even if they were affected by Corona cases.
The Chinese capital is working to improve anti-corona measures to reduce its impact on people's livelihoods, demanded the timely lifting of closed management of qualified residential complexes, and allowed the reopening of supermarkets affected by the epidemic after one day of closure.
Beijing reported 957 confirmed local coronavirus cases and 3,429 local asymptomatic cases on Monday, compared with 840 and 3,048 on Sunday.
