Christine McVie, legendary singer-songwriter for Fleetwood Mac, dies

Christine McVie, the British singer-songwriter whose voice and romantic lyrics helped catapult rock group Fleetwood Mac to international success, has died at the age of 79, the band announced Wednesday on social media.

"There are no words to describe our sadness at the passing of Christine McVie," the group said in a statement posted on Twitter.

“She was really unique, special and talented beyond measure.”

The band had its greatest commercial success between the years of 1975 and 1980, in which they sold millions of records.

One of the hits that brought McVie to fame was

Fleetwood Mac was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, and with McVie's voice he produced worldwide hit songs like

Dreams, Go Your on Way
