The Commissioner of the Prisons Service, Rabbi Gonder Kati Perry, has decided on the dismissal of Gilboa prison commander Fredi Ben Shatrit - this was announced this evening (Wednesday) by the Prisons Service.

According to the organization's statement, the reason for Ben Shatrit's dismissal is "due to his unsuitability for continued service".

The commander of Gilboa prison was recently put on forced leave and agreed to his dismissal.

The decision was approved by the Minister of Internal Security Amr Bar-Lev.

The commissioner's decision last August to take Ben Shetrit on forced leave was made following Ben Shetrit's letters, in which he announced that he would not accept the orders of his direct commander, Gonder Arik Yaakov, commander of the North District.

This, against the background of the testimony that Yaakov gave before the investigation committee for the escape of Gilboa prison inmates.

Ben Shatrit sent two letters in which he announced that he would not accept Jacob's marriage.

After his first letter, Perry ordered him to act as required by his position.

After this instruction, the officer turned again and announced that he refuses to have any contact with his commander.

Following the second letter sent by Ben Shetrit, the commissioner stated that she views his actions "very seriously".

"These actions violate the basic rules of any security organization, which is based on a hierarchical-command structure and cannot be passed over to the agenda," her statement said.

"Therefore, after consulting various officials in the organization and outside of it, and based on the opinion of those officials, it was decided to immediately put the officer on forced leave."

The tension between Ben Shatrit and the commander of the North District began following the latter's testimony before the investigation committee into the escape of the prisoners from Gilboa Prison.

In his testimony, Ya'akov claimed that the prison management falsified data related to the placement of the security prisoners in the wings, thus escaping the obligation to reassign the prisoners every six months.

Following the testimony, Ben Shetrit threatened to sever contact with his supervisor, which he did when he sent the letters to the commissioner.

"I was shocked at all the slanders of Shavas, but so far, when the words are said in relation to my orders, I cannot remain silent," he said.
