The municipality of Berg will spend more than one million euros on childcare in the coming year.

And the following year another 1.25 million euros.

Berg – Childcare is one of the compulsory tasks of a municipality.

That is why there was no major discussion in the Berger municipal council about the administration's plans to provide sufficient childcare places during the preliminary consultation of the budget for 2023.

Specifically, it is about the kindergarten in Berg, the Montessori kindergarten in Aufkirchen and the Herz-Jesu kindergarten in Höhenrain.

Above all, there is a lack of places for the very little ones, for crèche children from the ages of zero to three.

There are no childcare places in Berg

The brisk building activity in Berg attracts young families, and they need childcare places for their children.

These places are currently lacking - not necessarily because of a lack of buildings, but because there are no kindergarten staff.

In the St. Maria Catholic kindergarten, for example, one group is still not working at all because there are not enough staff.

The situation for kindergarten children is still comparatively good.

"The forest kindergarten in Höhenrain has relieved us with the kindergarten children," says Mayor Rupert Steigenberger.

Above all, there was still a lack of crèche places, although day care in Aufkirchen and the Montessori children's home at Gut Biberkor have opened up new childcare options.

350,000 euros each for kindergartens in Aufkirchen and Berg

That is why the Montessori kindergarten in Aufkirchen is to be expanded to include a crèche group with an estimated twelve places.

The group will be housed in containers.

As Steigenberger says, several containers should be put together to cover all needs.

"Sanitary facilities are also planned there." The containers are to be set up south of the clubhouse on the property of the old school.

350,000 euros have been set aside for this in the budget.

Containers as an extension are actually also planned for another crèche group in the "KinderArt" kindergarten in Berg.

The Berger town hall and the district office are also examining the possibility of enlarging the building on König-Ludwig-Weg not far from the town hall with an extension.

"We may be able to extend the kindergarten towards the castle park," explains Steigenberger.

For this, the Wittelsbach compensation fund would also have to be heard as a direct neighbor.

For the original container planning, 350,000 euros are included in the budget.

Around one million euros for a new building in the medium term

In Höhenrain, on the other hand, the administration is assuming from the outset that there will be a new building on the municipal property near the church, and it will also take in crèche children.

The administration is guided by the following considerations: “When we have finished Höhenrain, we can dismantle the containers in Aufkirchen again.” The plans for the coming year should show whether this will also work.

100,000 euros are planned for this in the coming year, and in 2024 the town hall expects expenditure of 900,000 euros for the new ground-level building.

The Catholic kindergarten St. Maria in Aufkirchen is planning a renovation next year.

The municipality of Berg contributes 240,000 euros to the costs.

Berg: Relief in childcare

Relief in childcare is also in sight from another side.

As Steigenberger said, the Montessori association Gut Biberkor is also planning a forest kindergarten.

According to the mayor, the already existing forest kindergarten on Biberkorstraße should have a water connection.

Something is also happening in the care of primary school children.

The municipality of Berg is planning a new building for lunchtime care at the Oskar-Maria-Graf elementary school.

Above all, this will be discussed first next year, and it should be concrete in 2024.
