Jim Shedd, a former DEA special agent who has dedicated more than 30 years of his life to fighting drug trafficking, emphasized in an interview with Camilo that the so-called "war on drugs" has never worked because it lacked the "education" component , treatment and rehabilitation" of those addicted to illicit substances.
He opined that the authorities never focused on eliminating drug use and, "if there is no use, there is no distributor."
In his opinion, the only thing that has been done so far is to put "a band-aid on a great disease."
