Participants in the Second International Conference on Building Engineering recommended the necessity of constructing permanent buildings without the need for frequent maintenance and activating the seismic design with full shock energy, and the Syrian Arab Code Committee adopting this design, calling for attention to the technology of image analysis and the use of new materials for reinforced concrete.

The participants in the conference, which concluded today at the University of Damascus, stressed the importance of using natural and recyclable materials and modern technologies in rationalizing resources, pointing to the necessity of modeling and automating building information, working on smart planning for projects and cities, using artificial and analytical intelligence for earthquakes, and continuous research to create smart cities.

The conference recommendations were preceded by a discussion of a number of researches that focused on the impact of choosing asphalt concrete as a dam blocking material, and assessing the efficiency of wetlands in dealing with water pollution in the Litani River in Lebanon, in addition to studying and evaluating earthquake-resistant double structures on the Syrian coast, and the effect of stiffening patterns on the performance of continuous beams. .

Some scientific research, a number of which was presented via video technology from several countries, provided an explanation of the identification of recycled aggregates, the conditions of the Syrian seismic network, the effect of the 3D printing process on the mechanical behavior of ground materials, and the investigation of the impact of the specific properties of local concrete mixture components on density and compressive strength using artificial intelligence. .

In a statement to SANA, Dr. Abdul-Wahhab Tahseen from Egypt stressed the importance of his participation in terms of following up the latest scientific technologies in the field of building engineering with researchers from various Arab and foreign countries, as well as providing an opportunity to visit Syria and enhance communication with Syrian researchers who have high expertise.

During his presentation on iron rusting in concrete buildings, describing its risks and the importance of treating it, the researcher Ioan Pipinar from Romania considered his participation in the conference an added value to his practical and research history, while Dr. Nariman Khalil, who participated via video from Lebanon, noted the high professionalism, craftsmanship, preparation and coordination that characterized the conference. And the exchange of experiences he carried in terms of the diversity of research posts.

It is noteworthy that the second international conference on building engineering, organized by the Higher Institute for Seismic Research and Studies at the University of Damascus, was launched yesterday under the title “Towards More Sustainable Facilities.” A number of Arab and international researchers participated in it over three days, during which they presented various scientific research.
