No offers from electricity suppliers: now the mayor has to decide

Because no offers were received, Neufahrn has to take care of a contract with an electricity provider for 2023.

There is already an emergency solution.

Neufahrn

- The municipality of Neufahrn obtains the electricity for the communal properties from an electricity supplier who was determined by the KUBUS company through the bundled tender.

So far so good.

The previous electricity supply contract with the company E.ON ends at the end of 2022. So far, so good.

And that is why the KUBUS company has carried out a new tender for the years 2023 to 2025.

Not good at all.

Because: No offers were received.

The result: At least for 2023, the municipality of Neufahrn is responsible for concluding a contract with an electricity provider.

Offers are often only valid for a few hours

The municipal council has now given Mayor Franz Heilmeier a free hand.

This is not least due to the fact that the offers from the electricity suppliers are usually only valid for a few hours, according to the municipal council.

Which is why a resolution by a committee is not possible in this case.

The municipal property management had already written to some companies at the beginning of October with regard to the end of the electricity supply contracts: E.ON, the Stadtwerke Freising, Dachau, Munich, Landshut, Pfaffenhofen, Augsburg and Ingolstadt, plus Vattenfall, or the Überlandwerk Erding.

Some have already declined, and we are still waiting for some feedback.

In order to be able to guarantee a quick decision and commissioning of an offer, the administration recommended that the head of the town hall be commissioned to carry out the award procedure - and accordingly to grant him all the necessary authorizations for the quick conclusion of an electricity supply contract.

E.ON would be the backup supplier - for three months

All municipal facilities and all public areas in the municipality that are supplied with electricity are affected.

Annual consumption totals around 1.6 million kilowatt hours.

Important: If no electricity supply contract can be concluded, the community falls into the replacement supply for three months from the default supplier E.ON.

After the three months have expired, however, there is no automatic entitlement to an electricity supply contract.

Also important: KUBUS is preparing a new bundled tender for the years 2024 to 2026.
