President al-Assad issues a law amending the compensation of the head and members of the administration of public institutions and administrative committees of companies and public facilities

President Bashar al-Assad issued Law 44 of 2022 amending the compensation of the chairman and members of boards of directors of public institutions and administrative committees of public companies and facilities.

The first article of the law stipulates that Article 39 of Law No. 2 of 2005 (regarding public institutions, companies and establishments) should be amended, to become as follows:

A- The chairperson and members of the boards of directors of public institutions and administrative committees of public companies and public facilities shall receive a lump sum compensation for each session they attend.

B- The compensation stipulated in paragraph /a/ of this article shall not be granted for attending sessions that exceed twenty-four sessions in one year.

C_ A decision of the Prime Minister based on a proposal from the Minister of Finance determines the compensation for the session and the principles and rules for granting this compensation in proportion to the size of the activity and the nature of the work in each of the public institutions, public companies and public facilities.

D- The hearing compensation granted under this article does not fall within the maximum limits of compensation stipulated in the laws and regulations in force.

E_ The chairman of the board of directors or the administrative committee shall receive compensation for management responsibility, which shall be determined by a decision issued by the Prime Minister that includes the rules and principles for granting this compensation based on a proposal from the Ministry of Finance.

Whereas, Article Two of Law No. 44 of 2022 stipulated the amendment of Article 40 of Law No. 2 of 2005, to become as follows:

A- The chairman and members of the boards of directors of public institutions and administrative committees of public companies and public establishments who are not employees therein shall be granted bonuses in light of their efforts exerted by a decision of the competent minister from the budget appropriations of the concerned authority, so that the amounts of these bonuses do not exceed /15,000/ SP fifteen. One thousand Syrian pounds per month for one person, and it does not fall within the ceilings specified in the laws and regulations in force

B- This amount may be raised by a decision of the Prime Minister based on a proposal from the Minister of Finance.
