The Dorfen clinic is a case for restructuring.

There is a need for action, especially in patient rooms.

The 4.3 million project is scheduled to start in spring 2023 and end in late autumn.

Inflation, lack of materials, delivery bottlenecks - the mix of crises has made construction even more expensive.

The district is now also feeling the effects of this – with the renovation of the Dorfen clinic.

Dorfen - Because of exorbitant price increases, he now had to pull the ripcord, but still wants to pull the project through quickly.

In the building committee of the district council, Matthias Huber from the property management team said with regard to the hospital renovation, "that we either didn't receive any offers at all in the tender, or that they were up to 600 percent higher than the cost calculation".

The logical consequence: "We canceled the tenders and put them out again," says Huber.

A wise step, because now more companies reported than in the first attempt, and their offers no longer included moon prices.

Nevertheless, the renovation will be significantly more expensive than planned.

Huber put the additional costs at almost one million euros.

Originally, 3.4 million euros had been estimated, now it should be around 4.3 million euros.

The district can deduct the federal subsidy for the installation of a ventilation system.

Huber explained that the price increase would have a particularly drastic effect on homes and clinics, "because these are usually very complex construction projects for which there are few suppliers on the market".

And they could then reach accordingly.

As reported, the Dorfen clinic is about to undergo a general renovation.

According to Huber, barrier-free patient rooms will be built on the first floor.

To do this, the existing wet cells have to be torn out and all installations on the ground floor and first floor have to be renewed.

"In this way we want to create 20 places," says Huber - eight double rooms with a barrier-free bathroom, one double room with a bathroom suitable for the disabled and two single rooms.

At the same time, a renovation is planned.

A recreation room and a therapy room as well as four to six office workplaces will be added.

Huber also announced that he would switch the lighting in the patient rooms and in the corridors to LEDs in order to save electricity and costs.

Here the district can expect a subsidy of 25 percent from the Federal Ministry for the Environment.

In the course of the conversion, the Dorfen clinic will not only receive new ventilation, but also the elevator that has been required for years, which will then also make the chapel barrier-free accessible.

Huber announced that the renovation should start in spring 2023.

He expects it to be completed in late autumn of the same year.

The Dorfen Clinic is a branch of the Erdinger Klinikum.

An internal medicine ward with 29 beds and three intermediate care beds, gastroenterology, cardiology, hematology and oncology as well as inpatient pain therapy are located here.

Despite cost increases, the committee unanimously approved the project without debate.

The good news for the tight budget of 2023: Billing will probably not be done until the following year.
