The Geretsrieder Eissportclub (ESC) asks its more than 450 members to pay: Due to increased costs, the club charges a special supplement.

Geretsried – After the Geretsried city council had already approved a subsidy for the operation of the Heinz Schneider Stadium retrospectively for 2022 and for the coming year, the ESC Geretsried is now asking its more than 450 members to pay.

"The electricity supply contract of the stadium operating association expires at the end of the year, and the previous cost calculation is thus waste," said club boss Markus Janka in a circular.

The additional financial expense that ice sports enthusiasts will face can only be reliably estimated once the federal government has issued a brake on electricity prices.

The ultimate goal of everyone involved is to ensure that all teams and departments can play for the 2022/2023 season.

"However, we need the support of the Geretsried ice sports family once again," emphasizes Janka.

The board of directors decided to levy a special contribution of 150 euros for each passive and active member in accordance with the statutes - this corresponds to double the annual contribution.

The direct debit will take place in mid-January 2023;

for family memberships, the amount is only due once.

"We can use this to offset a significant part of the costs, and we are also trying to acquire additional funds through donations," says the chairman.

Discussion at information evening

The decision was not made lightly.

"After the difficult years with the sluggish stadium renovation and the Corona crisis, we are now again challenged by the war in Ukraine and the resulting energy crisis," explains Janka about the adversity that ESC Geretsried is struggling with.

Those responsible are available for a discussion with the members at an information evening.

This will take place on Thursday, December 15th at 7:30 p.m. in the ice rink.
