School bus crashes into trucks in Erlangen: several students injured

Several children were injured in a school bus accident in Erlangen on Wednesday morning.
The vehicle collided with a truck in the middle of rush hour traffic.
Erlangen – On Wednesday morning in Erlangen, on the way to school, there was an accident with a school bus.
For reasons that are still unclear, the driver collided with a truck.
Several children were injured.
Some of them had to be treated in a hospital.
Accident in Erlangen: school bus collides with trucks at an intersection
According to a press release from the police headquarters in Central Franconia, the accident happened around 7.40 a.m.
A school bus, occupied by about 50 children and young people, was heading towards the city center on Werner-von-Siemens-Strasse.
The accident then occurred at the Nürnberger Strasse intersection.
A truck with a trailer that wanted to turn from Werner-von-Siemens-Strasse into Nürnberger Strasse collided with the school bus.
It was not immediately clear why the two vehicles collided.
The crash shattered the windows of the school bus.
Some students were injured by the flying glass.
The alerted emergency services cared for the children on site.
However, two students had to be taken to a hospital for follow-up treatment with the help of an ambulance.
A short time later, the other children and young people were able to continue their journey to school in a replacement bus.
It also says: "The school facilities were informed about the accident and ensure that the children and young people are given professional aftercare."

Accident recording and cleaning lead to traffic delays
The road was closed while the accident was being recorded and the investigation was being carried out.
As a result, there were significant traffic disruptions, the police write.
The other road users had to be guided past the scene of the accident.
The lockdown was lifted around 9:45 a.m.
The Erlangen Police Inspectorate has now started investigating the accident.
