Savannah High School students and staff are safe and evacuated after "unconfirmed reports of a gunman in the area" came in, a Savannah County Public Schools spokeswoman said. -Chatham, Stacy Jennings.
"There is no information at this time to confirm that the reports were accurate; however, a full response to the potential threat was carried out to ensure the safety of all occupants," he told CNN.
2022 could be the second year with the most mass shootings in the US.
"Emergency crews are on scene and searching Savannah High School and Savannah College this morning in response to unconfirmed reports of a gunman in the campus area," Jennings said.
"A lockdown has been initiated at the school. Emergency crews are evacuating students to a safe unification point while the search continues," the district official said.
