Because of an accident escape, a Tölzer had to face the juvenile court at the Wolfratshausen District Court these days.

He got off with a mild sentence.

Bad Tölz

– If you only leave a note with your address and telephone number on the car involved in a traffic accident, you commit an escape from the accident.

This was the realization of a young Tölzer who had hit the rear of a Toyota parked in front of him while parking his BMW.

The 20-year-old recently had to answer to the juvenile court at the Wolfratshausen district court for illegally leaving the scene of the accident – but got off lightly.

The judge only ordered participation in a traffic course.

In addition, the convicted person must bear the costs of the proceedings.

Accused: "For me it was just a small scratch"

"It was just a small scratch for me," the accused said in court.

According to the indictment, the collision that occurred on May 12 this year at around 2:30 p.m. in downtown Bad Tölz resulted in property damage of 1,500 euros.

The 20-year-old explained that he was in a bit of a hurry because he had to drive his girlfriend to the dentist in Miesbach.

The girlfriend therefore wrote down the contact details on a torn-off piece of newspaper and stuck this note under the windshield wipers of the Toyota.

Judge Friederike Kirschstein-Freund made it clear that that was not wise.

"And why?

Because the note can disappear – as it probably did in this case.

In any case, no such note was found,” the judge explained.

A note on the windshield is not enough

The injured pensioner owed the fact that the person responsible for the accident could be found the very next day to an attentive witness.

He had observed the incident and also left a note on the car.

This was found a day later during an inspection in the garage on the rear window wiper.

Judge Kirschstein-Freund found the 20-year-old guilty and, as suggested by the juvenile court clerk, ordered him to attend a traffic course.

He also has to finish an advanced course he has already started at his driving school.

The judge assessed it as a mitigating factor that the accused "at least made an effort to leave his personal details" and immediately confessed to the incident to the police.
