31 individual athletes and two teams were honored by the city of Schongau for their outstanding achievements.

Schongau – "You made Schongau famous": With these words, Schongau's second mayor, Daniela Puzzovio, welcomed the athletes present last Wednesday evening in the town hall.

All athletes have won medals in their respective areas and thus achieved outstanding achievements, for which they should now be honored by the city of Schongau.

Before handing over the certificates, Puzzovio wanted to thank not only the athletes but also all the volunteers and the families of the athletes.

"They are the ones who stand by the athletes: whether for motivation before a competition or as consolation after a defeat," says Puzzovio.

Award for women's volleyball and ice hockey team

At the beginning of the evening, the Schongau volleyball ladies were honored.

They became champions of the district class last season and thus more than earned the certificates and the gift basket.

But it was not without reason that the volleyball players were the first to be awarded: They then went straight to training.

We are certainly not resting on our laurels here.

After that, the next team award was due: The "young mammoths" of EA Schongau became champions of the U13 district league group 1 in the 2021/22 season. In addition to the certificates, Daniela Puzzovio also had a little "nerve food" with him.

Individual athletes from Schongau are honored

The individual athletes were then honored for their achievements.

Each of them received a certificate and a “Schongauscheck” shopping voucher.

Manfred Stadtmüller from the Taekwondo department of the TSV made the start.

He was followed by the triathletes Thomas Langes, Leopold Häuserer and Simon Langwieser.

One of the most well-known athletes in the region also received an award: the exceptional triathlete Simon Henseleit.

The Schongau swimmers Barbara Wöller and Ramona Breunig were also celebrated for their success.

There were also awards for Breunig's teammates Frank Witschel and Ingrid Breunig and, for the second time that evening, Simon Langwieser.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Schongau newsletter.)

Honors for the royally privileged shooters and winter sportsman Simon Jocher

The royally privileged shooters scored a number of direct hits this year, and they were honored: Gerlinde Bock, Leonhard Brader, Joachim Bremer, Marco Epp, Kilian Fichtl, Siegfried Forster, Florian Franck, Markus Heitmair, Peter Käpernick, Michael Rappenglück, Georg Suiter and Andrew Wimmer.

The teammates took away the certificates and gifts for all the shooters who were not present.

Last but not least, winter sportsman Simon Jocher was honored for his great successes in downhill and Super G.

However, he could not be there because he is currently competing in the USA and Canada.

So his mother accepted the certificate for him.

After the awards, the comfortable part for the award-winning athletes began: Over a drink, they were able to celebrate their achievements again in a friendly atmosphere.
