The General Foundation for Cinema launched the feature film entitled The Road, directed by Abdul Latif Abdel Hamid and written in partnership with the late Adel Mahmoud, in a special screening within the activities of the Syrian Culture Days in the Drama Hall of Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts.

The film, which was produced by the General Film Organization last year, is a simple rural scene, and its characters belong to their environment, which is colored by warm life details that carry their hopes and disappointments due to the storms of life.

The main bearer of the events of the road is the child Saleh and his suffering as a result of being accused of stupidity by all those around him, but his grandfather who bears the same name entrusted himself with the task of transforming the child's cognitive stupidity into cognitive and aesthetic intelligence, transforming him into a man of the road within a broad metaphorical meaning that includes those who reach, those who go astray and those who lead astray. He hesitates, and on this road finds a love story with a happy ending.

The director of the work, Abd al-Latif Abd al-Hamid, expressed in a statement to SANA his happiness that his film won three awards at the Carthage Film Festival, pointing out that it sheds light through it on the simple and pure lives of people who bear in the details of their lives their hopes, dreams and hidden things, calling through it for love, tolerance and renunciation of Hate and be wise.

As for the artist Mowaffaq Al-Ahmad, who won the best actor award at the Carthage Film Festival, he embodied the role of grandfather Saleh, who charted the path to success for his grandson by encouraging him to study and learn, pointing to the importance of ambition for a person to reach his goal, expressing his happiness at standing in front of the camera of director Abdel Latif Abdel Al-Hamid, describing working with him as a pleasure.

As for the actress Tamader Ghanem, who embodied the character of Umm Jamil, she pointed out that it was the first time she stood in front of the camera of director Abdel Latif Abdel Hamid, describing him as a distinguished and creative director from whom she learned a lot, wishing the Syrian cinema more brilliance and prosperity.

The road film, which won three awards at the Carthage Film Festival, featured a group of Syrian artists, including Mowaffaq Al-Ahmad, Ghaith Daher, Mamoun Al-Khatib, Rabab Merhej, Ahmed Kanaan, Rand Abbas, Tamader Ghanem, Majid Issa, Rama Al-Zein, Alaa Zahreddine, Hashem Ghazal, Khaled Rizk and others.

The film was attended by the Minister of Culture, Dr. Labana Mashouh, a number of members of the People's Assembly, and a crowd of artists, media professionals and intellectuals.
