The Foreign Correspondents' Club of Hong Kong leased the venue at 2 Lower Albert Road, Central, from the government, and the lease contract expires on January 1 next year.

The government accepted media inquiries and confirmed that it has granted a new three-year lease to the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Hong Kong, which is much shorter than the current seven-year lease.

The association earlier requested the government to renew the lease. The government stated that after careful consideration, it decided to grant a new three-year lease at the market rent. The new lease will take effect on January 2 next year.

The government continued to point out that under the implementation of the new policy, the lease term of all historical buildings leased out by the GPA shall not exceed 3 years.

The government has also added provisions to protect national security and government rights and interests in the new contract. "Hong Kong 01" is inquiring about the details of the contract from the Foreign Correspondents Club.

The Foreign Press Club has been involved in political turmoil many times in recent years, including inviting Dai Yaoting, the founder of "Occupy Central", Dawa Cairen, an official of the "Tibetan government-in-exile", and Chen Haotian of the "Hong Kong National Party". It uses government properties to promote the concept of "anti-China chaos in Hong Kong".
