Footage from the Ukrainian military shows the Mars II multiple rocket launcher, supplied by Germany, in action.

It is not known where and when the recordings were made.

Volodymyr, Ukrainian officer

"Ahead of us we see an unusual, not American or British M270, but the German version 'MARS II'.

This device has proven itself very well.

Its main task is to hit a troop formation, enemy equipment, with accuracy.

Warehouses, fuel depots and command points.

That is the main difference between Soviet and Western equipment.«

Meanwhile, in Bucharest, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg confirmed the sustained support of the Western alliance for Ukraine.

Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General

“I have absolutely no doubt that when foreign ministers meet today and tomorrow, they will send out the message that we must maintain and increase our support, not least when it comes to air defense systems, for example, designed to help Ukraine defend itself against all the to defend against air and offensive attacks.«

Little has changed in the military situation since the Ukrainian army recaptured the city of Cherson in mid-November.

In the ninth month of the war, despite the freezing cold, Donbass remains heavily contested.

However, the wet weather and the resulting muddy ground make larger offensives difficult if not impossible in many places.
