In a nationwide campaign, members of the "Working Group for Farmers" (AbL) demonstrated for a rethinking of the leasing of publicly owned agricultural land.
They criticize the fact that until now the achievable rent has been the priority when selecting the tenant.

– The Aidlinger farmer and chairman of the "AbL regional group Oberland", Rudolf Kühn, who is also active on the board of "AbL Bayern", together with his Ohlstadt colleague Leonhard Zach, handed over a catalog of demands from the AbL to district administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß.
He did this with the request that the brochure be distributed at the next mayor's meeting with an appropriate explanation.
Kühn sees the local authorities as having a duty.
Considering the leaseholders of agricultural land according to the highest bid puts farms at a disadvantage because this would drive prices ever higher.
It makes more sense to take ecological, social and agricultural structural aspects into account.
Local security of supply worldwide
This is also important for supplying the population with food that is produced in the region.
The AbL stands for local security of supply worldwide.
The "AbL Bayern" also calls for more transparency when leasing municipal areas, both in the tender and in the communication of the selection criteria.
Such criteria could be the number of jobs per hectare, biodiversity or animal welfare.
The detailed list of demands is available on the website "www.abl-bayern.info".
meeting with the mayor
Jochner-Weiss sees little scope for action since the district only has one agricultural area.
However, she agreed that she would discuss the issue with the mayors at the next staff meeting.
The municipalities in the district would have a lot of space and could think about the award criteria required by the AbL when leasing new ones.
