FIGARO LIVE – The journalist continues his collection of interviews devoted to Africa in “The great interviews”, this Sunday, December 4, at 11 p.m. on LCP.

Guest of "Buzz TV", the deputy editor of Le Figaro takes the opportunity to speak about magazines that mix entertainment and politics.

With his usual frankness.

- Do viewers have to be passionate about Africa to enjoy your interviews?

Yves THREARD.

-

No, because I want to make these interviews accessible to everyone.

It is true that Africa is a vast continent, with issues that are not necessarily the same as Europe.

The interlocutors from this region of the world, whom I invite on my show, are not necessarily known to the French.

They are writers, intellectuals, politicians or singers.

Through my questions, they strive to make all issues easy, whether economic, political or cultural.

The objective of this meeting is to introduce Africa to those who do not know it and to offer points of view to those who already know it.

This continent has incredible assets!

Is the goal also to draw the contours of the Africa of tomorrow?

Yes indeed.

I want to show what the Africa of tomorrow will be, or what it could be.

Because, as Pierre Dac said, prediction is a very difficult science, especially when it concerns the future.

Africa is often presented as the continent of all plagues, of all disasters.

It's always very pessimistic when we talk about this territory... With this series of interviews, I seek to show its enormous potential in terms of geography, intelligence and creativity, without however concealing its difficulties and its sometimes very sore.

Music, literature and cuisine are imbued with what is created there.

This Sunday, you will receive former Beninese Prime Minister Lionel Zinsou.

How do you choose those you receive in your chair?

Everything has to be done in a studio so I have to record these interviews when they come to Paris.

This is a first difficulty.

Then, I wanted to have interlocutors who are not all of the same nationality.

They sometimes come from Rwanda, like Dafroza Gauthier, who will appear in two weeks.

It is she who is looking for all those who committed this atrocious genocide.

Let me remind you: 800,000 deaths in three months in Rwanda, in 1994. I also receive the novelist Calixthe Beyala, who is Cameroonian, without forgetting the writer Boualem Sansal, who is Algerian.

"In the National Assembly, it goes a bit far in madness and disrespect"

Yves Thréard, guest of "Buzz TV".

You also present “

Le Club Le Figaro Politique

” every Tuesday at 8 p.m. on Figaro Live.

How is this meeting different from all other political programs broadcast on television or radio?

There are four debaters by my side, three of whom are from Le Figaro.

This shows that there is a human richness in this group which is absolutely immeasurable, with journalists from all generations and very different sensitivities.

Some are very conservative and know international relations like the back of their hand, while others are very liberal and have very advanced skills in economics.

Today, politics sadly revolves around the outings of Sandrine Rousseau and the invectives at the National Assembly.

How do you still love politics?

We complain that it's a bit of a mess in the hemicycle but we also very much regretted that nothing was happening there, that there was no debate and questioning.

There, I would say that it is the opposite excess.

It goes a little far in excess, madness and disrespect.

But it is the French who wanted it since they elect the deputies!

Today, elected officials and members of the government no longer hesitate to go to Cyril Hanouna's shows.

Is this good or bad news for politics?

For me, it's bad news... I have nothing to say about the Hanouna show, but when you go there, you know why and what's going to happen.

Politicians have nothing to complain about being tricked...

You are referring to Louis Boyard, who broke live with the host in “

Touche pas à mon poste!

»...

He knew very well where he was stepping.

When you go to this kind of show, you are provoked and you can very easily freak out.

It gives a rather detestable and reductive image of politics, which is a noble art.

It is about the life of the nation and it does not go through the show.

Marlène Schiappa was one of the first to give in to the sirens of Cyril Hanouna.

She realized that it was a way for her to reach a young audience and she's not wrong.

But these viewers can get information by many means, and without watching television.

"They sabotaged France Soir... It's heartbreaking"

Yves Thréard, guest of "Buzz TV".

You have the editorial director and deputy general manager of France Soir.

Today, this brand is associated with conspiracy and fake news.

Since yesterday, the site is no longer considered an online press service.

How do you view the decadence of France Soir?

It's heartbreaking for me.

It's tragic !

When you think that this newspaper was the nugget of the French press in the time of Pierre Lazareff.

When I left France Soir in 1999, we were still selling 170,000 copies on newsstands!

They sabotaged this newspaper.

You are the deputy editor of

Le Figaro

.

Between you and this newspaper, it's life and death?

Yes,

Le Figaro

is a princess.

It is a young girl who will celebrate her 200th birthday in 2026. It is one of the oldest newspapers in Europe which knows how to powder itself very well by modernizing itself.

The proof, we are doing a television show at

Le Figaro

!
