The police launched a crackdown on illegal gambling in Sheung Shui District in the early morning of this (1st) and smashed a suspected gambling stall on San Wan Road.
In addition to being suspected of "operating a gambling establishment" and "gambling in a gambling establishment", the person involved was also charged with the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition of Gathering) Regulations (Cap. 599G).
Members of the Anti-Triad Action Group of the New Territories North Region launched an anti-illegal gambling operation codenamed "CROWBEAK", "WINDSHIELD" and "STEELCOMMAND" in Sheung Shui District in the early hours of this morning (1st) , to crack down on illegal gambling activities in the region.

The 12 persons involved were charged with the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition of Gathering) Regulations (Cap. 599G) in addition to being suspected of "operating a gambling establishment" and "gambling in a gambling establishment".

During the operation, officers seized a table, about 30,000 yuan in cash and a batch of gambling equipment, and arrested a 59-year-old local man on suspicion of "operating a gambling establishment".
11 local men, 1 local woman and 4 Mainland men aged between 38 and 55 were arrested on suspicion of "gambling in a gambling establishment".
At the same time, they violated the Prevention and Control of Disease (Prohibition of Gathering) Regulations (Cap. 599G). Fixed penalty notices were issued to them. All arrested persons have been released on bail pending investigation and must report to the police in late January.
