A source in the Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Russia will not participate in the 2023 Munich Security Conference even if it receives an invitation, considering that the forum has lost its objectivity.

The source told RIA Novosti: “The head of the Munich Security Conference, Christoph Heusgen, said in a tweet: Russian officials will not be invited to attend the conference in 2023, and that the forum will discuss Russia’s future with Russian opposition leaders and exiles.”

The source stressed that “the Russian Foreign Ministry considers this position a flagrant violation of the principles of the United Nations Charter and the Helsinki Final Document of 1975 issued by the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe regarding non-interference in internal affairs.”

The source pointed out that refusing dialogue, unwillingness or fear of hearing Moscow's point of view, and discussing possible options to overcome the most difficult crisis on the European continent since World War II are qualities that are inconsistent with Heusgen's status as a former diplomat, just as these statements and actions distort the current president of the Munich Conference. who was previously respected.

The source confirmed that Russia is compelled once again to announce with regret that the Munich Conference has turned in recent years into a fully Atlantic forum, and has lost its inclusiveness, objectivity and equal treatment of its participants.
