"Serious incident":
At the end of lengthy investigative operations by the Israel Police, the suspect in the shooting incident in Haifa was arrested yesterday (Wednesday).

In an assessment of the situation conducted by the commander of the Coast District, Superintendent Yoram Sofer, with the participation of officers from the district and the Carmel area of the police, the investigation was assigned to the crime fighting unit (ILF) of the Carmel area. The investigative operations included the use of advanced technological means, the collection of evidence from the scene and the collection of eyewitness testimony. The suspect, a 24-year-old resident of Haifa, when bulk ammunition, telephones, a mask and a GPS device were seized from his home. The suspect was brought in for questioning at the Carmel Police Station on suspicion of attempted murder and eventually imprisoned.
"This is a serious incident in which an innocent elderly woman was injured by the shooting while she was staying at her home with her granddaughter and three great-granddaughters," said Corporal Yehuda Seror, commander of the Carmel police station.
"We made the investigation a top priority and arrested a suspect of involvement in the act. We will use all the means at our disposal in order to reach all the suspects in the serious incident and bring them to justice to the end."
Today the police will ask to extend his detention at the Haifa Magistrate's Court.
According to the police spokeswoman, more arrests are expected.
