A federal appeals court ruled Thursday that a judge's decision to appoint a special inspector to review documents seized by the FBI from former President Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence should be thrown out.
The ruling, by a three-judge panel from the 11th Circuit, removes the restrictions the Justice Department faced in examining classified documents, which will mean investigators can move more quickly.
The panel asserted that U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon's order last September to target an arbitrator and prevent the government from reviewing documents seized at Mar-a-Lago on August 8 was incorrect.

"The law is clear. We cannot write a rule that would allow any subject with a search warrant to block government investigations after the execution of that warrant," the panel wrote.
This is a developing story.
