Ben Gvir sues "Haaretz" and Haim Levinson: "They are running a smear campaign against me, whoever lies will pay"

The chairman of Otzma Yehudit, MK Itamar Ben Gabir, filed this morning (Thursday) a defamation lawsuit for about NIS 150,000 through attorney Hanmal Dorfman against the newspaper "Haaretz" and the reporter Haim Levinson, after the publication of what he describes as " A long series of slanders and lies against him."

This is an article published more than a week ago, in which it is claimed that Ben Gabir came out against a couple who convinced a minor to complain to the police about being harmed by an activist in the organization, after they claimed his wife encouraged her not to do so. On behalf of Ben Gabir, the article stated that he protested For "trying to extort the girl".

According to the publication, Ben Gvir wrote about the couple Abia and Raphael Morris, prominent Lahava activists who urged a minor volunteer in the Lahava organization to complain about a sexual assault by an activist in the organization, because they "are ungrateful and liars".

In the article, which was based on correspondence obtained by "Haaretz", his wife called the actions of the two "despicable, vile, lies, distortions and evil".

According to the text, the two acted against his wife Ila's advice not to go to the police, and after they claim that chairman Bentzi Gofstein tried to cover up the case. "They didn't care about the girl, but only the press of publicity and the hatred for Bentzi," accused Ben Gvir.

The lawsuit claims that: "Haaretz newspaper published a false, falsified article that constitutes serious libel, even though it knew that the facts, to say the least, were not true."

Also, the indictment refers to the claim that Ben Gvir objected to filing a complaint with the police, as he claims "the statements did not exist and were not made up and these are false and slanderous statements".

The chairman of Otzma Yehudit, MK Itamar Ben Gabir said: "The newspaper Haaretz forgot that the elections were over and continue to mark me as a target to discredit me and publish defamation. The false smear campaign against me will not deter me, and those who lie will pay."

Haim Levinson said in response: "As in everything with Ben Gabir - he swells up at the beginning that he is going to dismantle everyone and at the end he collapses and drops a clothes hanger."
