The city of Miesbach has changed its guidelines for honors at the annual New Year's reception.

At its most recent meeting, the Culture Committee unanimously voted in favor of relaxing the requirements for honors for long-standing, meritorious work.

In the future, clubs and individuals will have the opportunity to honor deserving club members and citizens as part of the New Year's reception.

In addition to the social, cultural, sporting and societal areas in which citizens have enriched life in Miesbach in a variety of ways, the commitment as a sponsor is now also being recognized.

Active club membership from the age of 25 and the restriction to five people have been abolished.

The mayor and the cultural office decide on the suggestions made.

Fewer requirements

"We want to open the honor a bit," said Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller (CSU).

Because in the course of the requirements of 2003, the number of honors has decreased.

Overall, he does not want to make any specifications.

Don't get too low key

Cultural officer Verena Schlier (CSU) noted that the cultural officer should have a say in what Braunmiller supported.

She also broke a lance for the 25 years and for the limitation to five people: "There is more to the municipal stage." She also warned not to honor too many people, otherwise the effect on photos would be lost - "a Bunch of people is too much."

Inge Jooß (SPD) pointed out that it is not about duration, but about performance.

Having only been in the club for 25 years makes it difficult for younger people to receive an award.

Six awards on offer

There are a total of six honors in the city.

The highest award is honorary citizenship.

Then there is the culture prize, which is awarded about every three years and is endowed with 1500 euros, as well as the citizen's medal for special services to the district town, which is also given at the New Year's reception as well as the honor for many years of meritorious work.

There are also awards for exceptional achievements in sport and the annual newborn reception with a commemorative coin and a gift for each child.
