Kaltenberg – Green-painted moor spirits haunt the market stalls and the snoring of a sleeping dragon can be heard from the jousting arena.

It is a magical fantasy world that has been unfolding for visitors to the Kaltenberg Christmas market since the first weekend in Advent.

When the preparations for the event began, it was still midsummer.

It took three months to equip the site with miles of LED light chains, to hang many colorful lampshades in the trees and to install the technology for interactive offers.

At the push of a button, a ball of lights à la 70s disco turns in the Valhalla.

In this case, however, it is the gold ball of the frog prince, which hangs enormously from the ceiling.

Also at the push of a button, the mirror on the wall reveals to the viewer what he looks like – namely “beautiful”.

A total of 80 stalls with handicrafts and 40 with culinary offers are distributed on the site.

There will be music and music played on four live stages.

On the hour, a narrator reads from Grimm's fairy tales.

Organizer Heinrich Prince of Bavaria hopes that parents will take up the suggestion.

"We want to encourage the children to force their parents to tell fairy tales," says the father of a small son with a wink.
