The moment of truth for the German national team has arrived.
The Mannschaft must beat Costa Rica tonight (Thursday) in the last round of the fifth round - any other result will send them home in a particularly humiliating way, from the last place in the house.
Along with three points, the Germans need Spain to beat Japan in the corresponding match, but a draw there might also be enough (depending on goal difference and tiebreakers).
The bad news for them is that this is also a fateful game for Costa Rica: after defeating Japan, the Ticos know that a surprising draw may send them to the next stage against all odds (if Japan loses to Spain), and of course a sensational victory as well.
