The owner of Tesla and Twitter, Elon Musk stated today (Thursday) that "there will be chips in the brain within six months".
The billionaire's ambitious project is expected to bring about a major revolution in the medical field.
It is a chip called BCI, or in Hebrew "brain-computer interface" whose purpose is to be implanted in the brains of people with various disabilities such as the paralyzed, the patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) or those who suffer from side effects following a stroke, among others, and make them communicate through their thoughts .

The owner of "Neuralink", which specializes in the field of neurotechnology, confirmed during an event of the company in California that they aim to start implanting chips in the brains of patients within six months.
"As miraculous as it may sound, we are sure that it is possible to restore full body function to someone who has a broken spinal cord," Musk revealed and even estimated that the chip would help people who have lost their sight "to see again, even if they have never seen before."
According to the "Bloomberg" news agency, an initial stage has already been conducted in monkeys, when in one case the animal was able to type "telepathically" on a screen.
Musk's hope is that in the future the chip will allow information to be transferred routinely between computers and humans.
"You're so used to being a de facto cyborg," Musk said, "but if you're interacting with your mobile, you're limited," he explained.
However, the tycoon's initiative was met with much criticism and it is not certain that he will pass the tests of the American authorities.
Although it has competitors dealing with the issue in advanced stages, the technology that Musk offers is much more invasive and includes opening and partial removal of the skull in order to implant the chip.
