The music school had organized an elaborate children's concert.

The audience loved the performance of The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.

Geretsried - "You all please be very quiet now," was the announcement, and all of a sudden it became dead quiet in the auditorium of the Adalbert Stifter middle school.

The Geretsried music school had invited to the children's concert "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King".

The participants included the teachers' and advanced orchestras, the blues strings ensemble and the children from Elsa Kodeda's early music education group.

The performance was completely sold out.

Parents and children sat with excitement in front of the elaborately decorated backdrop, with what was probably the first decorated Christmas tree in Geretsried.

Underneath that there was to be a gift that determined the plot.

Completely sold out performance

The auditorium was bathed in blue evening light when the headmistress, Sabrina Schwenger, began to read quietly - and thus created the atmosphere in Marie and Fritz's living room on Christmas Eve.

Under the Christmas tree, the children will find the wooden figure of the hussar with the "big mouth".

Little Fritz immediately cracks hard nuts, and the nutcracker loses his teeth in the process.

He places the wooden dummy in the display case with his army of hussars.

Marie stays awake when the family goes to bed.

Suddenly, the Mouse King and his guard burst out of the loopholes.

An exciting story begins about the transformation from nutcracker to prince, about the sugar fairy and the journey to the magic palace of Konfitürenburg.

The fairy tale by ETA Hoffmann from 1816 is based on the fairy tale ballet with the famous music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

The little ones from the music school were the great protagonists of this afternoon.

Little angels dressed in white, the youngest between the ages of four and six, played the framing scenes with flowers, handkerchiefs, rattles and little bells.

The main actors of primary school age were Tiana Hurubaru (Marie), Michael Kodeda (Fritz) and Johanna Menzinger (Zuckerfee).

It was a colourful, fairytale family concert, the second in a row.

The music school already performed the Magic Flute in the summer.

"With this series of concerts, we want to get the children excited about great music," explained Sabine Beyer, head teacher.
