The Greens politician Helga Stieglmeier calls on high earners to donate their energy allowance to help the poor.
Erding - Not everyone is suffering equally from the current energy crisis and inflation.
But all are supported by the state with a flat rate of 300 euros.
This gave Green City Councilor Helga Stieglmeier the idea of setting up a donation fund.
She presented this initiative to the city council on Tuesday.
Under the motto "Erding solidarity", all people who, like Stieglmeier, believe that they have enough themselves can provide financial support to citizens who are being hit hard by the crisis.
Stieglmeier announced that Caritas would set up the donation account and also take over the payment: "We have great confidence in Caritas that the money will go to the people who need it." Stieglmeier explained: "Many of us are doing very well .
We have a secure job, a warm apartment and aren't afraid that there won't be enough money at the supermarket checkout.
We are not dependent on government support.” She called on the city councilors to follow her example and pass on the energy flat rate as a donation.
Mayor Max Gotz (CSU) takes over the patronage.
The donation account has not yet been set up.
As soon as this is the case, it will be announced.
