Herrsching - The Catholic parishes in Herrsching, Breitbrunn and Inning are looking for children, young people and adults who, as carol singers, will carry the blessing to the people in groups at the beginning of the new year.

Two years ago, due to the pandemic, the only option was to leave small blessing packages in the churches.

Last year, those responsible organized "blessing stations" in public places, where people sang at a sufficient distance and the blessing was pronounced and then small packages with blessing stickers and incense were distributed.

"We have the possibility of blessing stations in the back of our minds this year," says Martina Rölz, who is responsible for the campaign in Breitbrunn, "but if we find enough children and young people, then we'll go from house to house again!"

Theresa Gabler, who organizes the campaign together with Quirin Englberger in Inning, confirms this dream.

"We need more than 100 young people and children from the 3rd grade and adults accompanying them so that this is possible in our communities," Christa Martini points out.

Together with Esther Greiff, she has been organizing the carol singers in Herrsching for many years.

The blessing stations in public places should be manageable, but visiting all the houses and apartments in the Ammersee-Ost parish community is the real dream.

That's why they start a big advertising campaign in all three communities on the first Advent.

They would like to encourage children and young people, but also their parents, to take one or more days between January 1st and January 8th, 2023 for the campaign and to carry the blessing to the people.

They designed a postcard that is to be distributed in church services, at Advent markets or in front of shops and that interested parties can use to register.

Star cookies are also baked and distributed.

Of course there is also the possibility to register directly by e-mail to simon.rapp@pg-herrsching.de (name and age, number of days and which days between New Year's Day and January 8, 2023).

The advertising campaign runs until the third Advent.

Then it is decided

“Blessings must come back to the people”

“The blessing must come to the people”, but for this the congregations also need many people who take over this service, which is so important for others.

Entire groups of three or four children and one accompanying adult are also welcome to register.

Now it's up to those addressed to get in touch, to be carol singers for one or more days and to start the new year with a lot of good and joy.
