A large-scale fire brigade operation in Baldham (municipality of Vaterstetten) caused a stir on Thursday.
Firefighters quickly got the fire under control.
Baldham/Vaterstetten
- smoke development in the underground car park - that was the alert that ordered numerous emergency services from the fire brigade in the western district of Ebersberg to Baldham (municipality of Vaterstetten) on Thursday, December 1st, around 3 p.m.
The alert related to the "Baldham Marketplace" shopping center in the immediate vicinity of the train station, where several supermarkets, banks and doctor's surgeries are housed.
A large number of blue lights caused a stir there.
Large-scale operation of the fire brigade - initially no flames to be identified
Initially, according to initial information on site, the emergency services could not find a fire.
They manually triggered the fire alarm system, which initially did not work, to test its functionality - successfully.
But the smell of smoke didn't come out of nowhere.
According to District Fire Councilor Andreas Heiss, the firefighters finally found what they were looking for: a small fire actually broke out in a technical room adjacent to the underground car park.
"Our people were able to quickly delete it," says Heiss.
No injuries in fire under Baldhamer shopping center
Accordingly, the people who were initially brought to safety were allowed back into the building in a timely manner.
However, the mission did not end there: As Heiss further reports, extensive ventilation measures against the smell of burning were still necessary.
In the early evening, the fire brigade forces gradually moved away while a squad was still waiting for technicians from the electricity network operator Bayernwerk.
As far as we know, no one was injured.
