Maine-et-Loire: a disabled woman raped in a park by a migrant

A woman in a wheelchair was raped in a park in Mauges-sur Loire (Maine-et-Loire) on the evening of November 12, 2022, according to information from

by the prosecutor of Angers, Éric Bouillard .

Leaving to do her shopping, the victim met, on her way home, two individuals in the park of La Pommeraye.

A conversation started between the two men and her.

After a few minutes of discussion, one of them leaves, leaving the woman alone with the second man.

The latter would then have kissed her by force, before raping her.

Two days later, the victim lodged a complaint and the medical examinations she carried out confirmed her version of the facts.

The investigation quickly allowed the local gendarmerie to arrest the alleged rapist and the one who accompanied him that evening.

They would be two " African-type

" migrants

, who were staying at the CPAR (Centre for the Preparation of Voluntary Return) in the city.

They had been welcomed into this organization after being expelled from migrant camps in the Nord department and the Paris region, even if they did not seem to want to take steps to voluntarily return to their country of origin.

The man who accompanied the alleged rapist was quickly exonerated, while the main suspect was "

indicted for rape of a vulnerable person and placed in pre-trial detention

".

An investigating judge was seized of the case on Wednesday, November 30.

The suspect, who presents himself as a minor, denies any forced nature of the sexual act.

Legal proceedings are underway at the Paris court in order to establish his true identity, in particular whether he is a minor or an adult.
