US military officials announced that a fire broke out aboard a US Navy aircraft carrier, injuring nine sailors.

The Associated Press quoted the US Navy as saying in a statement: The fire broke out on Tuesday morning, while the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln was conducting routine operations about 50 km off Southern California.

The statement indicated that the fire was quickly discovered and extinguished through the firefighting efforts made by the crew, pointing out that an investigation is underway to find out the cause of the fire.
