Opel continues to expand the range of versions of the new Astra, and after the plug-in hybrid models comes the turn of a fully electric version known as the Astra Electric.
The electric Opel Astra shares identical powertrains with the Peugeot 308e, the electric version of the Peugeot 308. Not surprising considering the two cars are non-identical twins.
The electric Opel Astra has a single electric motor in front that drives the front wheels with a power of 156 hp and 27.5 kg.

Opel mainly prides itself on a low energy consumption of 14.9 kW per 100 km. The acceleration figure to 100 km has not been published, but the electronically limited maximum speed figure is 170 km/h.

The battery located at the bottom of the vehicle has a capacity of 54 kW/h, which according to Opel should be enough for an average driving range of 416 km. Charging can be done using a home charger up to a rate of 11 kW, or at a fast charging station up to a rate of 100 kW which will allow Recharge 80% of the battery in half an hour.
Opel Astra Electric will be offered in the familiar hatchback body as well as in a useful and unique station wagon known as the "Sport Tourer", with a trunk volume of 516 liters that can grow up to 1,553 liters when the rear seats are folded down. The price of the electric Opel Astra has not been published, but it is expected to be similar to that of the Peugeot e308 which will be released to the European market at the same time.
