Hundreds of buildings across the country were lit purple today (Thursday) to mark the International Day for Equal Rights for People with Disabilities.
This is the third year that Israel has observed a "Purple Night" in honor of the 1.5 million people with disabilities living in Israel.

In a project led by the Lottery, the local government center, the regional government center and the "Shavim" association, more than 200 public buildings were illuminated, and this year 100,000 purple LED chains were also distributed to Israelis for lighting balconies.

Besides Israel, embassies abroad were also illuminated this year - including Tashkent, Warsaw, London, Brasilia, Beijing, Athens, Ankara and more. The Ministry of Education also joined the project this year: in the schools, the teachers taught lesson plans dealing with the integration and inclusion of the different.
